KELOID/ HYPERTROPHIC SCAR TREATMENT

When skin is injured, fibrous tissue called scar tissue forms over the wound to repair and protect the injury. In some cases extra scar tissue grows, forming smooth, hard growth called keloids. Keloids can be much larger than the original wound. They’re most commonly found on the chest ,shoulder ,earlobes and cheeks. However keloids can affect any part of the body.

Keloids are sometimes confused with another more common type of scar called hypertrophic scars. These are flat scars that can range from pink to brown and color. Unlike keloids, hypertrophic scars are smaller and they can go away on their own overtime.

Initially the doctor will probably recommend less invasive treatment such as silicone pads, pressure dressings or injections especially if the scar is a fairly new one.

In the case of very large keloids or an older keloid scar, surgical removal may be recommended.

FUNGAL INFECTION TREATMENT

Fungal infections are common throughout much of the natural world. In humans, fungal infections occur when an invading fungus takes over an area of the body and is too much for the immune system to handle.

The symptoms of a fungal infection will depend on the type, but common symptoms include the following :

  • Skin changes , including red and possibly cracking or peeling skin
  • Itching

Most fungal skin infections can be treated with over the counter or prescription creams. Severe infections may require additional methods. It is always best to notify a doctor at the first sign of infection to avoid possibly serious complications
